Meet Megan

Hi! I am Megan. I'm a Mother, Wife, professional Musician, Teacher, Mentor to mothers, Certified Women’s Circle Facilitator, and Founder of Mothers’ Healing Circle.

I am very passionate about supporting mothers in emotional and energetic preparation for birth, healing their birth experiences, embracing the important transition to motherhood, and healing their divine feminine energy.

Through my own journey of healing from a traumatic birth experience and postpartum mood disorders, I have gained invaluable tools which I now feel called to share with mothers around the world.

I genuinely believe that every woman has the capacity to heal already within herself, and it is my mission to support individuals along their personal healing journey, through the most pivotal processes, transitions, and rites of passage of womanhood.

My Mission
At Mothers' Healing Circle, my mission is to offer Women's Circles, Courses, and Resources for mothers who desire healing and support in the areas of:
  • Emotional, Spiritual, and Energetic Preparation for Birth
  • Birth Experience Healing
  • Transition to Motherhood
  • Embracing Motherhood
  • Divine Feminine

    My Story
In 2011 I became a mother for the first time. I was induced early due to Intrahepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy (ICP), and after a series of interventions, I ended up with a C-section. It was a shock to my body and I was emotionally drained. During my transition to motherhood, I did not feel fully supported physically, emotionally, or spiritually; I did not feel that I had a voice; and I felt completely overridden and overlooked by hospital staff and my doctor. I had so much anxiety that I did not sleep more than 4 or 5 hours during the entire 5 days/nights that I was in the hospital. I didn't know how to cope with or process through all the emotions from my experience, and I spiraled into a depression and anxiety and rage that I did not understand.

Eleven months. That’s how long I suffered before I realized something was wrong. It took me eleven months to recognize that what I was experiencing was NOT normal. To be honest, I actually thought the rage and anger and sadness and anxiety I felt were normal for motherhood. I thought that’s what motherhood was. I believed everyone felt that way all the time, but that they were just *better* at dealing with it than I was. I supposed they were all better moms than I was. The burden of guilt and shame and inadequacy were immense. I sat in that place for eleven months before getting the help I needed.

Through my own journey of healing from a traumatic birth experience, a rocky transition to motherhood, and learning to step into embracing my motherhood, I have learned many wonderful tools and principles which aided me along the way. My desire is to share them with you, to help you with the important transitions and rites of passage you experience as a mother.

    My Vision
And so I created Mothers' Healing Circle, a tribe of wonderful, strong, healing mothers. I don’t want any other mother to suffer with birth trauma, postpartum mood disorders, or a rocky transition from maidenhood to motherhood for as long as I did (or longer) without getting the help they need.

I feel that some of the emotional difficulty mothers face in the postpartum period (and even years that follow) stems from not creating space and time to honor the transition from maidenhood to motherhood as the important rite of passage that it is (even if it is not your first child, the transition to adding another child to the family also needs space to be honored). We need to take time to dust out the cobwebs from our own birthing and motherhood legacy, clear out the fears and negative emotions about birth and motherhood, so we can feel empowered to step into fully embracing ourselves as Mother and all the gifts and traits and roles which come with it.

During my postpartum period, I had no clue that what I was experiencing emotionally was linked to my birth experience and rocky start into motherhood.

But I know better now! And I am determined to help mothers and mothers-to-be to better understand how to honor the transition from maidenhood to motherhood, how to perform important rites of passage (such as a Mother Blessing Ceremony), how to emotionally, spiritually, and energetically prepare for birth and motherhood, what birth trauma is and its effects, the signs and symptoms of postpartum mood disorders, how to more fully step into embracing motherhood, and stepping into the divine feminine energy.

My vision is for resilient, strong mothers to heal their own birth experiences and embrace motherhood, so they can then rise as the healers and teachers, mentors and leaders in their own families and communities.
